A New Flock.................... of Geese

The Gander and one of his Geese

  We had wanted to get some geese for awhile now. Searching on craigslist for deals but I wasn't having much luck.We were really looking for Embdens or pretty much anything besides Chinese or Africans. Our fox problems have been really bad this summer they where even taking chickens and turkeys in daylight. Our thinking was that getting some geese might deter them at the very least alert us to when they were around.

   I came across nine Africans for a reasonable price on craigslist. I asked some friends if they were interested in splitting them as only wanted four of them. they ended up being 7 females and two males. I kept a gander and three geese.Hopefully in the near future we will have some little goslings. We picked them up about ten days ago and (knock on wood)havn't  had any fox attacks during that time.
