I was looking though my pictures the other day and came across quite a few of me shearing so I decided I would do a post on sheep shearing. My dad has been part time ever since I was three years old. Not long after I started going with him and holding the cord and giving him the oil can. I started shearing when I was twelve and over the past few years I have started to get my own clients as well as shear with my dad and younger brother. I avg about seven minutes a sheep which is far from fast by sheep shearing standards (the best can do them in under a minute) the most I have done in a day in 31. It is more than a little extra work here and there it is a hobby and a passion filled with experiences and stories to tell. Here is a step by step of me shearing
